Deoband Unani Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, Deoband

Deoband Unani Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Deoband, was established in 1991 by founder Manager Dr. Q. Z. Qureshi for the students seeking admission to the B.U.M.S. (Kamiil-e-Tibb-o-Jarahat) degree course. This course is prescribed according to the syllabus by C.C.I.M, Govt. of India.

It’s being run under the supervision & management of the Muslim Educational and Social Welfare Association (Regd.). The Association is registered under the societies registration Act 1860 and has a minority community certificate from the Minority Commission of the State Govt. of U.P. as well as from the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions, Govt. of India. The main objective is to become a beacon of hope and self-reliance for the poor, needy and deserving section of the society along with the commitment of providing quality Medical education and affordable medical facilities. We intend to produce competent Unani Physicians who could handle all sorts of cases medical as well as surgical based on their intensive knowledge and experience in the field.

Deoband College of Higher Education, Deoband

Deoband College of Higher Education (DCHE) Deoband was established in 2006 by the founder honorable Dr. Q.Z. Qureshi with the vision of developing skills and impart higher education amongst the masses. It aimed at building professionals with specialized skills and broad perspectives along with a great sense of responsibility towards society and the nation. It took roots under the supervision and management of Muslim Educational and Social Welfare (Regd.). DCHE intends to produce competent teachers who are proficient in imparting education across all disciplines and faculties.

Deoband School of Nursing

Deoband Nursing College as was established in 2009. GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) is a three and half year diploma course with. This course is for both male and female students. ANM (Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery): The duration of this programme is 18 months. Nursing diploma course is widely accepted throughout the globe since the course teaches nursing science along with the essence of humanities. Deoband School of Nursing it took roots 2009 under supervision and Management of Muslim Education and Social Welfare -MESWA (Regd.).

FREE MEDICAL CAMP ( OPD SERVICES) & IPD

MESWA provides free OPD Services collaboration with DUMC, Deoband. This weekly OPD service consists of a Doctor’s consultation and Dosage of Medicine. We are proving inpatient department services to needy and poor patients in our charitable hospital and other complete medication free of cost.

FREE MEDICAL CAMP & MEDICINE DISTRIBUTION

MESWA from time to time organizes free medical camps at various places. These camps are devised and designed with the following objectives in mind:

-To reduce the financial constraints on medical services of the poor and needy citizens who are living Below the Poverty Line.

-To assist them to be able to obtain quality health care services.

EYE CAMP

We provide free Eye checkup services in collaboration with DUMC, Deoband. Eye care and treatments in India are expensive and often unaffordable to the poor. These camps are aimed at providing quality Eyecare and optical treatment services to elderly citizens and that one’s in need.

A.I.D.S PROTECTION PROGRAM

No disease has ever ended the life, the way A.I.D.S has and HIV has become one if the biggest medical problem before mankind. Because it is an infectious disease the danger that it poses, is immense and the only way to escape from it is to be aware of the causes of it’s spread. A camp was organized by the society/N.G.O. where peopled were educated about the causes of AIDS, RTI & STI, the precautions that one should take and the myths about the disease. They were also sensitized about being cautious at the time of taking injections, blood transfusions, intercourse and personal hygiene etc.

FAMILY WELLBEING PROGRAM

This program has been undertaken by the society to overcome the societal problems like unwanted/repeated child births, that are generally present in the families of villagers. Motto of the program is to make them capable to fight against some social evils that effect the mental and social wellbeing of the married and their families. Efforts were made to encourage people to adopt any of the available means of family planning when needed. Free contraceptive items like pills, condoms and others were distributed among the people.

WOMEN LEADERSHIP & WELFARE PROGRAMS

It has been observed that women are lagging far behind in the society due to lack of education, training & guidance. To enable the women come forward and to enhance their talents & skills, leadership development programs are being organized by the N.G.O under the sponsorship of ministry of HRD, Govt. of India. A lot of enthusiasm has been seen in the ladies of the area about such programs. A program aimed at making women aware about the need of financial independence was organized by the society/N.G.O. The rural women in large numbers attended the program. They were informed about various schemes formed and executed by different govt. departments for women welfare. They realized the need for education and agreed to send their children’s particularly the girl child to school. Further, it was resolved that the society that the society/N.G.O. will further organize similar programs in the near future.

SEWING MACHINE DISTRIBUTION

MESWA distributes sewing machines to the highly poor and needy women so that they can earn some livelihood by stitching clothes sitting at their home. We are under consideration of expanding our services in the field of computer training, setting up a dispensary and a unit of training in tailoring for poor women.

BANK CHECK DISTRIBUTION TO WIDOWERS

In order to improve the financial condition of the widowers, MESWA distributes bank checks amongst widow women. It is primarily aimed to enable them to manage their basic needs and necessities’ in daily lives. A financially independent widow can save herself from a lot of hardships and exploitation that she would otherwise face from society, relatives, and the people around her.

AID TO GIRL CHILDREN

Aid to girl children is also provided in the form of scholarships, talent enhancement workshops, and career guidance so that they can stand up and walk along with their mothers in supporting their families.

GROCERY DISTRIBUTION

In order to eliminate hunger and malnutrition amongst people society / NGO has been constantly working in reaching people who are facing such problems. The society / NGO distributes grocery items like rice, wheat, cereals, millets etc that are essential nutritional elements of a human diet.

TRI-CYCLE DISTRIBUTION

A very large portion of society is left unattended just because they were either born handicapped or they acquired such problems due to accident or growing age. It becomes our moral responsibility to not only take care of such people but also make them feel more welcome in society.  MESWA distributes tricycles to handicapped persons in order to enable them to manage their transportation needs and provide mobility in their daily lives.

BLANKET & CLOTHES DISTRIBUTION

In the winter season, a big section of our weaker society does not have even warm clothes and wrapping to avoid cold. As a-part of charitable activities, the member of society/N.G.O. distribute blanket to the poor and helpless people sleeping on roadsides, railways station of Deoband. The team finds numerous people who sleep in the open sky shivering in the cold who do not even have enough clothes to cover their bodies.

LITERACY PROGRAMS

Considering very high level of illiteracy, the society/N.G.O. with the help of volunteers has started organizing educational programs on regular basis. These programs are attended regularly by illiterate villagers. Without a strong foundation of literacy, children are more likely to struggle throughout their life in poverty and see their potential hampered. Numerous barriers prevent students from developing the literacy skills that they need to thrive, therefore we design our literacy programs to create long term systemic changes in the areas where we work.

AGRICULTURAL PROGRAMS

The mission of this program is to have largest penetrations in rural masses for their social, economic and cultural development through agricultural research, financial inclusion, self-employment, awareness toward various schemes of govt. and extended support from other agencies. In the past year, society / N.G.O. has been working on this project by helping farmers to develop uncultivated or primary land. Farmers can develop their fertile and infertile lands for agricultural purposes and can do more cultivation with the help of this project. The society’s /N.G.O. with this agricultural program aims to bring relief including food security, farming support, and promote the development of people facing extreme poverty

RURAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

In the past year, society/N.G.O. has organized various development camps to promote general awareness among the villagers about drainage systems, literacy, hygiene, etc. so that they can improve their standard of living. We believe in giving a second chance to the “Out of school” deprived youth and help them earn a decent living by providing free vocational training and life skills. We intend to turn the less privileged youth into an asset for society & the nation.

DRINKING WATER AWARENESS PROGRAM

This program has been started by the society/ N.G.O. with aim to make people aware of

pure drinking water & also water preservation. This program has been very successful in many villages and slum areas. We build drinking water facilities as and when possible. We also aim to create awareness amongst students regarding water conservation to ensure responsible utilization of water resources and water bodies for a sustainable future.

FOOD PROCESSING TRAINING

Availability of raw materials at the local level presents a hood of opportunities in the food processing industry. There is a huge demand for food products like jam, jelly, and murabba, etc in the urban market. In an attempt to encourage the young generation to explore opportunities in the food processing industry, a program was organized by the society/N.G.O. under which training was imparted on the above-referred items.

NATIONAL FESTIVAL PROGRAM

To remind the days of pre-intendance ear and to arouse the feeling of patriotism, the Society organized various programs on the occasion of Republic Day, Gandhi Jayanti (2nd October). On this occasion, the National Anthem was sung and the National flag was hosted with full honor. Society/N.G.O. has organized several cultural programs with secular themes on Sir Syed Day, Holi, Deepawali, Eid & other important festivals & days.

PULSEPOLIO AWARENESS PROGRAM

This program has been started at our office, with the aim to make people of the villages aware of the disease of polio and the vaccination programs run by the government. This program has been undertaken to overcome the disconcert among the villagers. Under this program, we have included several villages and deprived areas with the motto of making their life healthy and happy.

ENVIRONMENT AWARENESS PROGRAM

The population of our country has surpassed 1.35 billion. This over population causes enormous problems to the environment and air in the country particularly in the areas of Uttar Pradesh, where the population density is disproportionately distributed. The society/N.G.O. organizes environmental awareness programs to make people understand the fragility of our environment and the importance of its protection. We are promoting environmental awareness in an easy way so as to become an environmental steward and participate in creation of a brighter future for our children.

CONSUMER AWARENESS PROGRAM

To make the consumer aware about the precaution that they take before buying anything from the market a consumer awareness camp was organized by the society/N.G.O. on the occasion of Consumers Day. The program was highly successful in imparting the basic rules governing the consumer’s interest. Further they were informed about the various Consumer Associations that can be approached in case of need for guidance and support.
