About MESWA

Introduction of MESWA

Muslim Educational and Social Welfare Association/ N.G.O., was formed in 1990 at a world-renowned place Deoband, India which is well known for its peaceful and devotional atmosphere. Deoband lies in district Saharanpur of Uttar Pradesh (U.P.) province in North India and has produced several well-known religious scholars of universal caliber. The freedom struggle of India was deeply rooted in the soil of Deoband as it lies very close to Delhi-the Heart of India and Meerut-the place from where the first struggle for independence of India started in 1857. “Reshmi Reel (Rumal) Movement” originated from Deoband which will always be remembered whenever the history of India’s struggle will unfold.

However, after independence, this area lagged in education because of the deteriorating financial condition of the people in this area. U.P. province is one of the most densely populated but educationally & economically backward provinces in India. At such an hour of need the Muslim Educational and Social Welfare Association/ N.G.O, Deoband was formed with a mission to awaken and empower educationally backward people of the area by bringing to them modern education and social services to relieve them from the siege of poverty and illiteracy. By the grace of Almighty, since then the society is progressing with each passing day. It has been a tremendous effort by the founders of the Society/N.G.O. in establishing such a facility when there was none.

The Society arranged land to establish a Medical College and a degree college for this purpose. The medical college was named Deoband Unani Medical College while the degree college was called Deoband College of Higher Education. Various job-oriented courses in the field of medical, computer technology, management, and education are being provided to the students of all categories irrespective of their caste, creed, etc. A bare minimum fee is charged from students and they are provided with free scholarships based on merit for further career development. Students from remotest areas are being benefitted by it as they are receiving the best of education with the lowest expenses possible. Society since the day of its inception is actively engaged in multipronged activities in social and cultural fields. Amongst others, the most appreciable achievement of institutions of the Society/N.G.O is Communal Harmony, which is one of the biggest challenges being faced by the community today.
